Voluntary Supplemental Benefits

We have partnered with Mutual of Omaha to offer you the following supplemental group plans for you and your eligible dependents. For each of these valuable plans, the benefit can be used to cover living expenses, deductibles, out-of-pocket medical costs—whatever the need, and rates don’t go up for filing a claim. Other reasons to consider a supplemental plan include the following:

  • Benefits paid directly to you: Benefit payments for these plans are not reduced by any other coverage and can be used however you see fit.
  • Coverage is available for family members: Most plans offer coverage for dependents.
  • The plans are portable: The plans can be converted to individual policies if you retire or leave.

Accident Insurance

Accident Insurance pays benefits for specific injuries and events resulting from a covered accident, including:

  • Hospital stays
  • Fractures
  • Burns
  • Dislocations
  • Ambulance expenses
  • Medical appliances

Critical Illness

Critical Illness Insurance pays a lump-sum benefit if you are diagnosed with a covered serious illness, including but not limited to:

  • Heart attack or coronary artery disease
  • Stroke
  • Major organ transplant
  • Kidney failure
  • Cancer

Coverage can be purchased in increments of $10,000 with a maximum of $40,000 for yourself and your family. The cost of this coverage depends on the benefit amount you select as well as your age. Rates are available in the ADP enrollment system.

Hospital Indemnity

Hospital Indemnity Insurance pays a daily benefit if the covered individual has to stay in a hospital, critical care unit or rehabilitation facility. Santen fully covers a Hospital Indemnity plan for employees enrolled in one of our HDHP plans. The plan features include the following:

  • The plan pays a lump-sum cash benefit when an insured employee or family member requires hospitalization or treatment related to a sickness or injury
  • The benefit is paid regardless of any other insurance coverage or actual expenses incurred
  • Proof of good health is never required to enroll
  • The Company pays for the cost of employee coverage for those enrolled in our medical High Deductible Health Plans
